My son had the idea of making a chocolate toffee. So I thought, why not. I thought maybe using cocoa powder and sugar, and make it the same way I do my toffee. So I measured 1/3 cup cocoa powder and 2/3 sugar, in about 1/2 cup water. And let it bubble away for around 8 minutes, like I do with the toffee. Well we didn't get toffee but we did get a nice chocolate syrup for our ice cream.
Take two, we tried same amount of cocoa powder, and this time used 1 cup of sugar. We mixed the cocoa powder in with 1/2 cup water. Then stored in the sugar and combined well. After it was all mixed together, I turned on the heat to high until it started bubbling. Then I turned the heat down to medium and let bubble for around 10 minutes. What we got was chocolate toffee.
