Home made cinnamon banana ice cream on pancakes. What a wonderful treat for dinner. My son and I love it. Back to the ice cream creating tomorrow. Found all my bowls and things from the move. Im back and ready to go.
I have un packed the boxes. Of course my ice cream machine was one of the first things in to the new kitchen. I am looking forward to working on some new ice creams. Keep checking back, as I will keep you up to date with my new creations.
I get to start moving in to our new home. And look forward to starting to create new recipes, and finish up book two. So many wonderful recipes to share with the world. Thank you all for following us. Keep checking back. New things coming soon.
Had to put the creative energy on hold, until I move into my new place. Save on trying to pack up and move ice creams. Guess I can always invite friends around and have an ice cream blow out.
Tried a bit of the chocolate sauce my son and I accidentally created when were were trying to make the chocolate toffee. I think with a little bit of crushed nuts on it, would taste great and remind me of the frozen bananas we used to get in summer. Some times an accident can help you create a new dish, a new favourite. Im so glad I have my son interested in trying new things in the kitchen. Even better when he sees not every thing works out the first time.
Almost finished with my 4th batch of ice cream today, and my Cuisinart ice cream machine is going strong. I have made 6 batches in one day before. And the last came out as great as the first. I have been using it for more then 6 months now and never have had a problem at all. This is the one I use. http://www.cuisinart.com.au/product/ice-cream-maker-with-compressor/
They have made a newer model. If it is as good as the one I use, it will not let you down.
Next flavour to test is banana cinnamon ice cream. Nice ripe bananas and some ground cinnamon. Now I just have to wait for the ice cream maker to finish, to see how it came out.
Vanilla bean ice cream with the chocolate toffee in it. A bit of the toffee melts as it mixes into the ice cream. And you get that chocolate toffee crunch. So happy we tried my sons idea.
My son had the idea of making a chocolate toffee. So I thought, why not. I thought maybe using cocoa powder and sugar, and make it the same way I do my toffee. So I measured 1/3 cup cocoa powder and 2/3 sugar, in about 1/2 cup water. And let it bubble away for around 8 minutes, like I do with the toffee. Well we didn't get toffee but we did get a nice chocolate syrup for our ice cream.
Take two, we tried same amount of cocoa powder, and this time used 1 cup of sugar. We mixed the cocoa powder in with 1/2 cup water. Then stored in the sugar and combined well. After it was all mixed together, I turned on the heat to high until it started bubbling. Then I turned the heat down to medium and let bubble for around 10 minutes. What we got was chocolate toffee.
A father making some special treats for my wife and son, and sharing them with the world.
